1 1 Section 1. HEALTHY AND WELL KIDS IN IOWA – OPTIONAL
1 2 ENROLLMENT FOR PERSONS ELIGIBLE FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. The
1 3 department of human services shall seek a waiver from the
1 4 health care financing administration of the United States
1 5 department of health and human services to, alternatively,
1 6 enroll children eligible for medical assistance in the healthy
1 7 and well kids in Iowa program while maintaining the federal
1 8 medical assistance program matching rate for these children.
1 9 If the department of human services receives approval of the
1 10 waiver, the department shall immediately implement the changes
1 11 in the programs.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill directs the department of human services to
1 14 request a waiver from the health care financing administration
1 15 of the United States department of health and human services
1 16 to, alternatively, enroll children eligible for medical
1 17 assistance in the healthy and well kids in Iowa program, while
1 18 maintaining the federal matching rate under medical assistance
1 19 for these children. The department is directed to implement
1 20 the changes in the programs immediately upon receipt of
1 21 federal approval.
