PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 388.3, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 1 2 1999, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 If a proposal to establish a utility board receives a 1 4 favorable majority vote, the mayor shall appoint the board 1 5 members, as provided in the proposal, subject to the approval 1 6 of the council. The council shall by resolution provide for 1 7 staggeredsix-yearterms of not less than three years nor more 1 8 than six years for, and shall set the compensation of,board 1 9 members, and shall set the compensation of board members. 1 10 Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY DATE. This bill applies to terms of 1 11 office beginning on or after January 1, 2001. 1 12 EXPLANATION 1 13 This bill changes the length of term of office for board 1 14 members of a city utility or combined utility system from six 1 15 years to a term of not less than three years and not more than 1 16 six years. The length of term of office for a city utility 1 17 board or combined utility board is provided in a resolution 1 18 adopted by the city council. 1 19 The bill applies to terms of office beginning on or after 1 20 January 1, 2001. 1 21 LSB 6004HH 78 1 22 sc/cf/24.1
