1 1 Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION JOINT VENTURE STUDY.
1 2 The department of education, in conjunction with the
1 3 department of general services, board of regents, department
1 4 of transportation, national guard, natural resource
1 5 commission, and the Iowa public employees' retirement system,
1 6 shall examine ways to encourage state agencies and school
1 7 districts to consider the feasibility of joint facilities
1 8 ventures. The department of education shall submit a report
1 9 of findings and recommendations to the general assembly on or
1 10 before December 15, 2000.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill requires the department of education, in
1 13 conjunction with the department of general services, board of
1 14 regents, department of transportation, national guard, natural
1 15 resource commission, and the Iowa public employees' retirement
1 16 system, to examine ways to encourage state agencies and school
1 17 districts to consider the feasibility of joint facilities
1 18 ventures. The department shall submit its findings and
1 19 recommendations to the general assembly on or before December
1 20 15, 2000.
