1 1 Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS SERVICES FOR ELDERS.
1 2 1. There is appropriated from the general fund of the
1 3 state, in addition to any other appropriation for the purposes
1 4 designated, to the department of elder affairs for the fiscal
1 5 year beginning July 1, 1999, and ending June 30, 2000, the
1 6 following amounts, or so much thereof as is necessary, for the
1 7 following purposes:
1 8 a. For the retired senior volunteers program:
1 9 .................................................. $ 215,000
1 10 b. For Alzheimer's chapters:
1 11 .................................................. $ 115,000
1 12 c. For mental health outreach:
1 13 .................................................. $ 25,000
1 14 d. For general elderly services:
1 15 .................................................. $ 1,195,408
1 16 e. For statewide case management:
1 17 .................................................. $ 3,000,000
1 18 f. For adult day care:
1 19 .................................................. $ 350,000
1 20 g. For care review support:
1 21 .................................................. $ 130,000
1 22 The funding appropriated under this subsection shall be
1 23 allocated to the area agencies on aging and shall not be
1 24 reduced by the state by any costs of administering or
1 25 allocating the funds and shall not require the development of
1 26 any new programs for receipt of the funds.
1 27 2. There is appropriated from the general fund of the
1 28 state, in addition to any other moneys appropriated for the
1 29 purposes designated, to the Iowa department of public health
1 30 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1999, and ending June
1 31 30, 2000, the following amounts, or so much thereof as is
1 32 necessary, for the purposes designated:
1 33 a. For the public health nursing program to be targeted
1 34 for home nursing visits for elders:
1 35 .................................................. $ 2,637,465
2 1 b. For the home care aide/chore program to be used for
2 2 homemaker, home-health, and chore program services for elders:
2 3 .................................................. $ 9,016,052
2 4 c. For the senior health program:
2 5 .................................................. $ 801,337
2 6 Moneys appropriated under this subsection shall not be
2 7 reduced by the state by any costs of administering the funds
2 8 and shall not require the development of any new programs for
2 9 receipt of the funds.
2 10 EXPLANATION
2 11 This bill provides for appropriations from the general
2 12 fund, in addition to any other general fund appropriation made
2 13 for the purposes designated, to the department of elder
2 14 affairs for the retired senior volunteers program, Alzheimer's
2 15 chapters, mental health outreach, general elderly services,
2 16 statewide case management, adult day care and care review
2 17 support; and to the Iowa department of public health for the
2 18 public health nursing program, the home care aide program, and
2 19 the Iowa senior health program. Moneys appropriated are not
2 20 to be reduced by the state for costs of administrating the
2 21 funds and are not to require the development of any new
2 22 programs for receipt of the funds.
