PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 91D.1, subsection 1, paragraphs a and 1 2 d, Code 1999, are amended to read as follows: 1 3 a. The hourly wage stated in the federal minimum wage law, 1 4 pursuant to 29 U.S.C. } 206, shall be increased to$3.85$6.15 1 5 on January 1 of19902000,$4.25 on January 1 of 1991,and 1 6$4.65$7.15 on January 1 of19922001. 1 7 d. An employer is not required to pay an employee the 1 8 applicable minimum wage provided in paragraph "a" until the 1 9 employee has completed ninety calendar days of employment with 1 10 the employer.An employee who has completed ninety calendar1 11days of employment with the employer prior to January 1 of1 121990, 1991, or 1992, shall earn the applicable hourly minimum1 13wage.An employer shall pay an employee who has not completed 1 14 ninety calendar days of employment with the employer an hourly 1 15 wage of at least$3.35 as of January 1 of 1990, $3.85$5.15 as 1 16 of January 1 of19912000, and$4.25$6.15 as of January 1 of 1 1719922001. 1 18 EXPLANATION 1 19 This bill raises the state's hourly minimum wage to $6.15 1 20 beginning January 1, 2000, and to $7.15 beginning January 1, 1 21 2001. The hourly minimum wage for employees serving a 90-day 1 22 training period is raised to $5.15 on January 1, 2000, and 1 23 $6.15 on January 1, 2001. 1 24 The federal minimum wage is currently $5.15. 1 25 LSB 2733HH 78 1 26 kh/jw/5
