PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 321.324A, subsection 1, Code 1999, is 1 2 amended to read as follows: 1 3 1. For purposes of this section, "funeral procession" 1 4 means a procession of motor vehicles accompanying the body of 1 5 a deceased person during daylight hours which is being 1 6 escorted by a vehicle continuallydisplayingflashing its 1 7 emergency signal lampsflashing simultaneouslyand using 1 8 lighted head lamps and identifying flags, and keeping all 1 9 other motor vehicles withlighted head lampsflashing 1 10 emergency signal lamps in close formation. 1 11 Sec. 2. Section 321.423, subsection 2, Code 1999, is 1 12 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 1 13 NEW PARAGRAPH. h. On a motor vehicle which is part of a 1 14 funeral procession pursuant to section 321.324A. 1 15 EXPLANATION 1 16 This bill amends Code section 321.324A to provide that 1 17 motor vehicles taking part in a funeral procession shall use 1 18 flashing emergency signal lamps. Currently, such motor 1 19 vehicles are directed to use lighted headlamps. 1 20 The bill also amends Code section 321.423, which regulates 1 21 the use of flashing lights on motor vehicles, to provide that 1 22 motor vehicles taking part in a funeral procession are 1 23 exempted from the prohibition on flashing lights on or in 1 24 motor vehicles. 1 25 LSB 2324HH 78 1 26 nh/jw/5
