  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  217.44  FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT
  1  2 POSITIONS REDUCED – COUNTY REIMBURSEMENT.
  1  3    If a resignation, retirement, or dismissal reducing the
  1  4 number of full-time equivalent positions responsible for
  1  5 providing or coordinating the provision of mental health or
  1  6 mental retardation services in a local office of the
  1  7 department causes the county to which the local office is
  1  8 assigned to assume responsibilities previously performed by a
  1  9 departmental employee in such a position, the department shall
  1 10 reimburse the county for the increase in costs connected with
  1 11 the responsibilities assumed.  In order to receive
  1 12 reimbursement, the county shall provide documentation as
  1 13 prescribed by rule of the department.  The department shall
  1 14 adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A to implement this section.  
  1 15                           EXPLANATION
  1 16    This bill provides that if the number of full-time
  1 17 equivalent positions providing or coordinating services for
  1 18 persons with mental retardation or mental health needs is
  1 19 reduced in a local office of the department of human services,
  1 20 and the county to which the local office is assigned must
  1 21 assume the responsibilities of the position, the county is to
  1 22 be reimbursed by the department for the costs connected with
  1 23 the responsibilities assumed.
