PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 562B.14, subsection 7, Code 1999, is 1 2 amended to read as follows: 1 3 7. a. Each tenant shall be notified, in writing, of any 1 4 rent increase at least sixty days before the effective date. 1 5Such1 6 b. The effective date of any rent increase shall not be 1 7 sooner than the expiration date of the original rental 1 8 agreement or any renewal or extension thereof. 1 9 c. The amount of a rent increase shall not exceed the 1 10 percentage change in the consumer price index for all urban 1 11 consumers, United States city average, as published in the 1 12 federal register by the United States department of labor, 1 13 bureau of labor statistics, for the twelve-month period 1 14 immediately preceding the notification of the rent increase. 1 15 d. A landlord may implement no more than one rent increase 1 16 in any twelve-month period. 1 17 EXPLANATION 1 18 This bill amends Code section 562B.14, regarding rental 1 19 agreements in mobile home parks. The bill requires that a 1 20 rental increase be no more than the yearly increase in the 1 21 consumer price index, and that such increase be implemented no 1 22 more than once per year. 1 23 LSB 2226YH 78 1 24 jj/gg/8
