  1  1    Section 1.  Section 483A.24, subsection 2, paragraph b,
  1  2 Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    b.  Upon written application on forms furnished by the
  1  4 department, the department shall issue annually without fee
  1  5 one deer or one wild turkey license, or both, to the owner of
  1  6 a farm unit or to a member of the owner's family, but not to
  1  7 both, and to the tenant or to a member of the tenant's family,
  1  8 but not to both.  The deer hunting license or wild turkey
  1  9 hunting license issued shall be valid only on the farm unit
  1 10 for which an applicant qualifies pursuant to this subsection
  1 11 and shall be equivalent to the least restrictive license
  1 12 issued under section 481A.38.  The owner or the tenant need
  1 13 not reside on the farm unit to qualify for a free license to
  1 14 hunt on that farm unit.  A free deer hunting license issued
  1 15 pursuant to this subsection shall be valid during all shotgun
  1 16 regular gun deer seasons and a free wild turkey license issued
  1 17 pursuant to this subsection shall be valid during all regular
  1 18 gun wild turkey seasons.  
  1 19                           EXPLANATION
  1 20    This bill provides that a free wild turkey license is valid
  1 21 during all regular gun wild turkey seasons.
  1 22    The bill also changes a reference to a shotgun deer season
  1 23 to a regular gun deer season which would allow these persons
  1 24 to hunt with shotguns and muzzle loaders.
