  1  1    Section 1.  Section 509B.3, subsection 6, paragraph a, Code
  1  2 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    a.  Nine Eighteen months after the date the employee's or
  1  4 member's insurance under the policy would otherwise have
  1  5 terminated because of termination of employment or membership.  
  1  6                           EXPLANATION
  1  7    This bill extends the time period from nine to 18 months
  1  8 for the continuation of insurance coverage under a group
  1  9 accident or health policy after the date the employee's or
  1 10 member's insurance under the group policy would otherwise have
  1 11 terminated because of termination of employment or membership.
