1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY HEATON
1 3 (COMPANION TO LSB 7351SS BY TINSMAN)
1 4 A House Concurrent Resolution requesting the
1 5 legislative council to establish one or more interim
1 6 committees to study human services issues.
1 7 WHEREAS, the joint appropriations subcommittee on
1 8 human services has considered several complex issues
1 9 involving human services but additional review is
1 10 needed in order to make a final decision regarding the
1 11 issues; and
1 12 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to utilize the
1 13 legislative interim for detailed review of particular
1 14 issues; NOW THEREFORE,
1 15 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
1 16 SENATE CONCURRING, That the legislative council is
1 17 requested to establish one or more interim committees
1 18 to study the following human services issues:
1 19 1. Practices relating to prior authorization under
1 20 the medical assistance program of nonsedating
1 21 antihistamines for children.
1 22 2. The provision of pharmacy services using the
1 23 internet.
1 24 3. The electronic benefit transfer program for
1 25 provision of public assistance, including the type of
1 26 equipment to be utilized under the program and fees to
1 27 be paid to retailers.
1 28 4. The department of human services' action plan
1 29 for reimbursement methodologies.
1 30 5. Alternatives to placement of males at the Iowa
2 1 juvenile home at Toledo; and
2 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That to the extent
2 3 possible, the legislative council should appoint
2 4 members of the joint appropriations subcommittee on
2 5 human services to any interim committee established
2 6 pursuant to this resolution.
