  1  1    Amend the Senate amendment, H-8899, to House File
  1  2 2378, as passed by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by striking lines 40 and 41 and
  1  4 inserting the following:
  1  5    "#   .  Page 2, by striking lines 14 through 25 and
  1  6 inserting the following:
  1  7    "1.  The school year shall begin on the first day
  1  8 of July and each regularly established elementary and
  1  9 secondary school shall begin no sooner than a day
  1 10 during the calendar week in which the first twenty-
  1 11 fifth day of September August falls but no later than
  1 12 the first Monday in December.  However, if the first
  1 13 twenty-fifth day of September August falls on a
  1 14 Sunday, school may begin on a day during the calendar
  1 15 week which immediately precedes the first twenty-fifth
  1 16 day of September August.  School shall continue for at
  1 17 least one hundred eighty days, except as provided in
  1 18 subsection 3, and may be maintained during the entire
  1 19 calendar year.  However, if the".
