  1  1    Amend House File 2572 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 3, by striking lines 9 through 20, and
  1  3 inserting the following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  Section 100B.1, subsection 1,
  1  5 unnumbered paragraphs 1 and 2, as enacted by 2000 Iowa
  1  6 Acts, House File 2492, section 8, are amended to read
  1  7 as follows:
  1  8    The state fire service and emergency response
  1  9 council is established in the division of fire
  1 10 protection of the department of public safety.  The
  1 11 council shall consist of ten voting members.  Members
  1 12 of the state fire service and emergency response
  1 13 council shall be appointed by the governor.  The
  1 14 governor shall appoint members from the following
  1 15 organizations, chosen from a list of names submitted
  1 16 by appointed by the president or board of directors of
  1 17 each of the following organizations:
  1 18    a.  Two members from the Iowa firemen's
  1 19 association.
  1 20    b.  Two members from the Iowa fire chiefs'
  1 21 association.
  1 22    c.  One member from the Iowa association of
  1 23 professional fire fighters.
  1 24    d.  Two members from the Iowa association of
  1 25 professional fire chiefs.
  1 26    e.  One member from the Iowa fire fighters group.
  1 27    f.  One member from the Iowa emergency medical
  1 28 services association.
  1 29    The tenth member of the council shall be a member
  1 30 of the general public appointed by the governor.  To
  1 31 the extent possible, appointments shall comply with
  1 32 sections 69.16 and 69.16A.  Vacancies shall be filled
  1 33 by the original appointing authority and in the manner
  1 34 of the original appointment."
