  1  1    Amend the amendment, H-8409, to Senate File 2267,
  1  2 as amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 32 the
  1  5 following:
  1  6    "Sec.    .  Section 256D.1, subsection 1, Code
  1  7 Supplement 1999, is amended by adding the following
  1  8 new paragraph:
  1  9    NEW PARAGRAPH.  c.  ENCOURAGING IOWA FAMILY READING
  1 10 NIGHT – INTENT.  It is the intent of the general
  1 11 assembly to encourage each family in Iowa to set aside
  1 12 Tuesday night, from seven to eight p.m., for reading
  1 13 by the family.  School districts, the department of
  1 14 education, and the media are encouraged to promote
  1 15 Iowa family reading night in mailings, on websites,
  1 16 and in public service announcements, billboards, print
  1 17 and broadcast media services, and other appropriate
  1 18 means."
  1 19    #2.  By renumbering as necessary.
