  1  1    Amend House File 2549 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 9, line 15, by striking the figure
  1  3 "500,000" and inserting the following:  "1,000,000".
  1  4    #2.  Page 27, by inserting after line 34 the
  1  5 following:
  1  6    "Sec.    .  NEW SECTION.  256E.6  STATEWIDE PROGRAM
  1  7 IMPLEMENTATION.
  1  8    Notwithstanding the funding provisions of section
  1  9 256E.2, effective July 1, 2005, all school districts
  1 10 shall implement an approved beginning teacher
  1 11 induction program following the prescribed procedure
  1 12 set forth in this chapter, and shall provide every
  1 13 beginning teacher employed by a school district with a
  1 14 mentor."
