1 8 #4. Page 1, by striking line 31 and inserting the

1 10 term of eligibility shall be for five years or for the
1 11 years in which the individual maintains a valid
1 12 certificate, whichever time period is shorter.
1 13 (2) If the teacher registers for national board
1 14 for professional teaching standards certification
1 15 between January 1, 1999, and January 1, 2001, and
1 16 achieves certification by June 30, 2004, an annual
1 17 award in the amount of five thousand dollars for up to
1 18 ten years upon achieving certification by the national
1 19 board of professional teaching standards. A term of
1 20 eligibility shall be for ten years or for the years in
1 21 which the individual maintains a valid certificate,
1 22 whichever time period is shorter.
1 23 To receive an annual award under subparagraph (1)
1 24 or (2), a teacher shall apply to".

1 27 #6. Page 3, line 1, by striking the words "this
1 28 section" and inserting the following: "section 1,
1 29 paragraph "b", subparagraph (1),".
1 30 #7. Page 3, line 2, by inserting after the figure
1 31 "1999." the following: "However, the department shall
1 32 award not more than a total of fifty thousand dollars
1 33 in annual awards to an individual."
