1 1 Amend the amendment, H-1588, to Senate File 468, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 22, by inserting after line 4 the
1 5 following:
1 6 " . The department of public safety shall
1 7 conduct a study, and submit a report of its findings
1 8 and recommendations, to the general assembly by
1 9 January 10, 2000, concerning the feasibility of
1 10 providing members of the Iowa state patrol with
1 11 cellular, or other similar wireless, telephones and
1 12 accompanying service. In conducting its study, the
1 13 department shall examine and include findings on the
1 14 cost of providing the telephones and service to
1 15 members of the state patrol and on what type of
1 16 telephone and service would be the most effective in
1 17 assisting members of the state patrol. The department
1 18 shall consult with members of the Iowa state patrol in
1 19 conducting its study."
