1 1 Amend the amendment, H-1588, to Senate File 468, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 10, by inserting after line 16 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "9. It is the intent of the general assembly that
1 7 the department of corrections, in submitting its
1 8 proposed budget request for the fiscal year beginning
1 9 July 1, 2000, exclude requests for full-time
1 10 equivalent positions, and the moneys for those
1 11 positions, which would otherwise be included for the
1 12 sole purpose of providing the department with
1 13 additional moneys to operate the department and not
1 14 for the purpose of providing additional full-time
1 15 equivalent positions. In addition, the department of
1 16 corrections shall submit a report to the general
1 17 assembly by January 31, 2000, listing full-time
1 18 equivalent positions authorized by this Act and not
1 19 filled during the period from July 1, 1999, to January
1 20 1, 2000. For any position that is unfilled as of
1 21 January 1, 2000, the department shall indicate why the
1 22 position remains unfilled, whether the department
1 23 intends to fill the position, and, if applicable, what
1 24 efforts are being made, or will be made, to fill the
1 25 position."
