1 3 #1. Page 6, by inserting after line 19 the
1 4 following:
1 5 "Sec. ___. Section 306.19, subsection 1, Code
1 6 1999, is amended by adding the following new
1 7 unnumbered paragraph:
1 8 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. In the relocation,
1 9 establishment, or improvement of a primary road, the
1 10 department shall acquire sufficient right of way to
1 11 provide for the connection of any recreation trails
1 12 which are in the vicinity of the primary road, or
1 13 portion thereof, being relocated, established, or
1 14 improved, if such connection is feasible or if such
1 15 acquisition is requested by a local government and is
1 16 reasonable. The department shall adopt rules
1 17 regarding the feasibility of the connection of
1 18 recreation trails in the vicinity of a primary road
1 19 relocation, establishment, or improvement pursuant to
1 20 this paragraph. If the department acquires sufficient
1 21 right of way to provide for the connection of
1 22 recreation trails pursuant to this paragraph, it shall
1 23 also provide preliminary grading for the portion of
1 24 the right of way which may be used to connect the
1 25 recreation trails."
