  1  1    Amend Senate File 449, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, line 4, by inserting after the word
  1  4 "language." the following:  "As a means of recognizing
  1  5 the linguistic importance of Latin to the formation of
  1  6 the English language and the importance of Latin in
  1  7 the derivation of the European languages used by
  1  8 settlers during the late nineteenth century in the
  1  9 region that became this state, the state of Iowa
  1 10 adopts the following as the official Latin motto of
  1 11 the state:  "Iowa – terra diversa ac copiosa.""
