1 4 "Sec. 101. NEW SECTION. 279.59 EXTRACURRICULAR
1 5 ACTIVITY SCHEDULING.
1 6 It is the intent of the general assembly to
1 7 encourage student involvement in home, family, and
1 8 community activities as well as involvement in the
1 9 extracurricular activity and interscholastic athletic
1 10 competition opportunities available through the public
1 11 schools. To facilitate a well-rounded education
1 12 experience and promote student involvement in non-
1 13 school-related activities, the board of directors of
1 14 each public school district shall establish a policy
1 15 that designates each Wednesday evening, after six
1 16 p.m., when school is in session during the regular
1 17 school calendar, as family night. The policy may
1 18 include exceptions for unique events."
1 19 #2. Page 5, by inserting after line 31 the
1 20 following:
1 21 "Sec. 102. APPLICABILITY. Section 101 of this Act
1 22 is applicable to school years beginning on or after
1 23 July 1, 2000."
