  1  1    Amend Senate File 276, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by inserting before line 1 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Section 1.  Section 513B.10, subsection 4,
  1  6 paragraph a, subparagraph (2), Code 1999, is amended
  1  7 to read as follows:
  1  8    (2)  The exclusion extends for a period of not more
  1  9 than twelve six months, or eighteen twelve months in
  1 10 the case of a late enrollee, after the enrollment
  1 11 date.
  1 12    Sec. 2.  Section 513B.10, subsection 4, paragraph
  1 13 d, Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1 14    d.  Health insurance coverage may exclude coverage
  1 15 for late enrollees for preexisting conditions for a
  1 16 period not to exceed eighteen twelve months.
  1 17    Sec. 3.  Section 513C.7, subsection 4, paragraph a,
  1 18 Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1 19    a.  The individual basic or standard health benefit
  1 20 plan shall not deny, exclude, or limit benefits for a
  1 21 covered individual for losses incurred more than
  1 22 twelve six months following the effective date of the
  1 23 individual's coverage due to a preexisting condition.
  1 24 A preexisting condition shall not be defined more
  1 25 restrictively than any of the following:
  1 26    (1)  A condition that would cause an ordinarily
  1 27 prudent person to seek medical advice, diagnosis,
  1 28 care, or treatment during the twelve six months
  1 29 immediately preceding the effective date of coverage.
  1 30    (2)  A condition for which medical advice,
  1 31 diagnosis, care, or treatment was recommended or
  1 32 received during the twelve six months immediately
  1 33 preceding the effective date of coverage.
  1 34    (3)  A pregnancy existing on the effective date of
  1 35 coverage."
  1 36    #2.  Title page, line 3, by inserting after the
  1 37 word "services," the following:  "preexisting
  1 38 condition provisions,".
  1 39    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
