1 1 Section 1. Section 84A.4, Code 1997, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 4. Members of the boards shall be allowed
1 4 their actual and necessary expenses incurred in the
1 5 performance of their duties if the general assembly makes an
1 6 appropriation to the department specifically for this purpose.
1 7 EXPLANATION
1 8 This bill permits members of the 15 regional workforce
1 9 development advisory boards to be reimbursed for actual and
1 10 necessary expenses they incur while performing their duties if
1 11 the general assembly appropriates moneys to the department
1 12 specifically for that purpose. The regional advisory boards,
1 13 created within the Iowa Code in 1996, are directed to identify
1 14 workforce development needs within their regions, assist the
1 15 workforce development board and the department in the awarding
1 16 of grants or contracts administered by the department in their
1 17 regions and in monitoring the performance of the grants and
1 18 contracts awarded, make annual reports and recommendations to
1 19 the workforce development board, and make recommendations to
1 20 the department concerning workforce development.
