1 1 Section 1. Section 422.45, Code 1997, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 52. The gross receipts from the sale of
1 4 building materials and supplies for use in the construction of
1 5 new single family dwellings. This exemption also applies to
1 6 the construction of a garage whether attached to the new
1 7 dwelling or not, if the garage is constructed at the same time
1 8 as and in conjunction with the new dwelling.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 The bill exempts from the state sales and use taxes the
1 11 building materials and supplies used in constructing new
1 12 single family dwellings. If the garage is constructed at the
1 13 same time as and in conjunction with the new dwelling, then
1 14 the materials and supplies are also exempt whether or not the
1 15 garage is attached.
