1 1 Section 1. Section 912.5, Code 1997, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 5. To or for the benefit of a resident of
1 4 this state who is a victim of an act of terrorism as defined
1 5 in 18 U.S.C. } 2331, which occurred outside of the United
1 6 States.
1 7 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 8 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill provides that victim compensation benefits under
1 11 Code chapter 912 are payable to residents who are victims of
1 12 crimes which constitute international terrorism and which
1 13 occur outside of the United States. The bill takes effect
1 14 upon enactment.
