1 1 Section 1. Section 535.15, subsections 4 and 5, Code 1997,
1 2 are amended by striking the subsections.
1 3 Sec. 2. Section 12.27, Code 1997, is repealed.
1 4 EXPLANATION
1 5 This bill strikes language mandating that the treasurer of
1 6 state receive and publicize interest rate and fee information
1 7 associated with open-end credit and credit cards offered by
1 8 certain financial institutions. The bill also strikes
1 9 language requiring financial institutions which accept
1 10 applications from persons residing in this state to disclose
1 11 such information to the treasurer of state. Financial
1 12 institutions accepting such applications would still be
1 13 required to disclose the information, but the specific manner
1 14 as to how such disclosure would be made is not established.
