1 2 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION
1 3 A Senate Resolution honoring Senator William D. Palmer.
1 4 WHEREAS, Senator William D. Palmer is retiring from
1 5 legislative office after completing eight terms in
1 6 office as a state Senator and two terms as a member of
1 7 the House of Representatives; and
1 8 WHEREAS, Senator Palmer's distinguished career as a
1 9 state legislator has included service as the Senate
1 10 President Pro Tempore during the Seventy-fifth General
1 11 Assembly; and
1 12 WHEREAS, Senator Palmer's service as Chairperson of
1 13 the Appropriations, Budget, Commerce, Natural
1 14 Resources, Rules and Administration, and Ways and
1 15 Means Committees and as a member of the Administrative
1 16 Rules Review Committee is well recognized; and
1 17 WHEREAS, Senator Palmer also served as a member of
1 18 the Legislative Council during the Sixty-fourth,
1 19 Sixty-sixth, Sixty-seventh, Sixty-eighth, Sixty-ninth,
1 20 and Seventy-fifth General Assemblies; and
1 21 WHEREAS, Senator Palmer's dedication, leadership,
1 22 and expertise in the areas of tax fairness, consumer
1 23 protection, commercial regulation, and balancing the
1 24 state budget are well recognized; and
1 25 WHEREAS, Senator Palmer has served honorably and
1 26 has unselfishly given of his time and efforts to
1 27 further the interests of the State of Iowa and to
1 28 provide beneficial programs for the citizens of Iowa;
1 29 and
1 30 WHEREAS, Senator Palmer has served on many other
2 1 standing committees throughout his thirty-four years
2 2 of legislative service and has been an influential and
2 3 devoted legislator in this state; NOW THEREFORE,
2 4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate pay
2 5 tribute to Senator William D. Palmer for his devoted
2 6 service to the Iowa General Assembly and the citizens
2 7 of this state and wish him the very best in the years
2 8 ahead; and
2 9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 10 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Senator
2 11 William D. Palmer.
