1 1 Section 1. There is appropriated from the general fund of
1 2 the state to the department of education for the fiscal year
1 3 beginning July 1, 1998, and ending June 30, 1999, the
1 4 following amounts, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to
1 5 be used for the purposes designated:
1 6 COMMUNITY COLLEGES. For general state financial aid,
1 7 including general financial aid to merged areas in lieu of
1 8 personal property tax replacement payments under section
1 9 427A.13, to merged areas as defined in section 260C.2, and for
1 10 vocational education programs in accordance with chapters 258
1 11 and 260C:

1 30 EXPLANATION
1 31 This bill appropriates moneys to the department of
1 32 education from the state general fund for the fiscal year
1 33 1998-1999 to pay general state financial aid to the community
1 34 colleges at the level requested for the fiscal year by the
1 35 department.
