1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 7.23 PROTOCOL OFFICER FOR
1 2 INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS.
1 3 The lieutenant governor shall be the state protocol officer
1 4 for international relations. In this capacity, the lieutenant
1 5 governor, or the lieutenant governor's designee, shall provide
1 6 the necessary assistance for all of the following purposes:
1 7 1. Coordinating any requested and appropriate activities
1 8 for a visiting international official.
1 9 2. Coordinating meetings between a visiting international
1 10 official and the governor or other state officials.
1 11 3. Providing a visiting international official with
1 12 requested or relevant information related to state government.
1 13 4. Arranging international visits by state officials.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill provides that the lieutenant governor shall be
1 16 the state protocol officer for international relations. In
1 17 this capacity, the lieutenant governor shall provide
1 18 assistance in coordinating activities for a visiting
1 19 international official, coordinating meetings between a
1 20 visiting international official and the governor or other
1 21 state officials, providing a visiting international official
1 22 with requested or relevant information related to state
1 23 government, and arranging international visits by state
1 24 officials.
