PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 99D.17, Code 1997, is amended to read 1 2 as follows: 1 3 99D.17 USE OF FUNDS. 1 4FundsExcept as provided in section 99D.22, subsection 5, 1 5 funds received pursuant to sections 99D.14 and 99D.15 shall be 1 6 deposited in the general fund of the state and shall be 1 7 subject to the requirements of section 8.60. These funds 1 8 shall first be used to the extent appropriated by the general 1 9 assembly. The commission is subject to the budget 1 10 requirements of chapter 8 and the applicable auditing 1 11 requirements and procedures of chapter 11. 1 12 Sec. 2. Section 99D.22, Code l997, is amended by adding 1 13 the following new subsection: 1 14 NEW SUBSECTION. 5. An Iowa-foaled horse purse account is 1 15 created in the state treasury. The account shall be credited 1 16 with twenty-five cents of each admission fee received by the 1 17 commission from each pari-mutuel horse racetrack licensee 1 18 pursuant to section 99D.14, subsection 2. The account shall 1 19 be administered by the department of agriculture and land 1 20 stewardship and shall be used to supplement the purses won by 1 21 Iowa-foaled horses in unrestricted pari-mutuel races. 1 22 EXPLANATION 1 23 This bill creates an Iowa-foaled horse purse account to be 1 24 administered by the department of agriculture and land 1 25 stewardship. The account is funded by 25 cents from each 1 26 admission fee which is paid to the state racing and gaming 1 27 commission by a pari-mutuel horse racetrack licensee. The 1 28 money is to be used to supplement the purses won by Iowa- 1 29 foaled horses in unrestricted pari-mutuel races. 1 30 LSB 3555XS 77 1 31 tj/cf/24
