1 1 Section 1. Section 232.149, Code 1997, is amended by
1 2 adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 3. Notwithstanding subsection 2, if a
1 4 juvenile who has been placed in detention under section
1 5 232.22, escapes from the facility, the criminal or juvenile
1 6 justice agency may release the name of the juvenile, the facts
1 7 surrounding the escape, and the offense or alleged offense
1 8 which resulted in the placement of the juvenile in the
1 9 facility.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill allows criminal and juvenile justice agencies to
1 12 release certain information relating to the escape of a
1 13 juvenile from a facility in which the juvenile has been placed
1 14 for detention. If a juvenile escapes from such a facility,
1 15 the agencies are permitted to release the name of the
1 16 juvenile, the facts surrounding the escape, and the offense or
1 17 alleged offenses which resulted in the placement of the
1 18 juvenile in the facility.
