1 1 Section 1. STATEWIDE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS – AGRICULTURAL
1 2 PRODUCTION AND MARKETING CONTRACTS. There is appropriated
1 3 from the general fund of the state to the office of attorney
1 4 general for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997, and ending
1 5 June 30, 1998, the following amount, or so much thereof as is
1 6 necessary, to be used for the purpose designated:
1 7 For the purpose of supporting the environmental and
1 8 agricultural law division in conducting educational programs
1 9 around the state regarding production and marketing contracts,
1 10 including hedge to arrive contracts, involving agricultural
1 11 commodities, especially grain:
1 12 .................................................. $ 100,000
1 13 The environmental and agricultural law division shall plan
1 14 and conduct the educational programs in concert with the Iowa
1 15 cooperative extension service in agriculture and home
1 16 economics at Iowa state university. The educational programs
1 17 shall be carried out in cooperation with interested
1 18 associations including, but not limited to, the Iowa
1 19 agribusiness association, the Iowa institute for cooperatives,
1 20 the Iowa farm bureau federation, and the Iowa corn growers
1 21 association.
1 22 EXPLANATION
1 23 This bill appropriates $100,000 to the office of attorney
1 24 general to support the office's environmental and agricultural
1 25 law division in conducting educational programs around the
1 26 state regarding production and marketing contracts, including
1 27 hedge to arrive contracts, involving agricultural commodities,
1 28 especially grain. The division is required to plan and
1 29 conduct the educational programs in concert with the Iowa
1 30 cooperative extension service in agriculture and home
1 31 economics at Iowa state university. The bill provides that
1 32 the educational programs must be carried out in cooperation
1 33 with interested associations.
