  1  1    Section 1.  Section 562.5, Code 1997, is amended to read as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    562.5  TERMINATION OF FARM TENANCIES.
  1  4    In case of tenants occupying and cultivating farms
  1  5 conducting farming operations on land, the notice provided in
  1  6 section 562.4 must fix the termination of the tenancy to take
  1  7 place on the first day of March, except in cases of mere
  1  8 croppers, whose leases shall be held to expire when the crop
  1  9 is harvested; if the crop is corn, it shall not be later than
  1 10 the first day of December, unless otherwise agreed upon to by
  1 11 the parties.
