1 1 Section 1. Section 321.215, subsection 2, Code 1997, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. A person who is determined to be
1 4 a habitual offender based on a combination of convictions for
1 5 driving a motor vehicle while the person's motor vehicle
1 6 license is suspended, revoked, or barred for violations of
1 7 chapters 321 and 321J may apply for a temporary restricted
1 8 license under this section if the most recent conviction was
1 9 for a violation of chapter 321.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill provides that a person who has attained habitual
1 12 offender status through a combination of convictions for
1 13 driving while the person's license is suspended, revoked, or
1 14 barred under either Code chapter 321 and 321J may apply to the
1 15 district court for a temporary restricted license under Code
1 16 section 321.215 if the most recent conviction was for a
1 17 violation of chapter 321.
