1 1 Section 1. Section 456A.17, unnumbered paragraph 4, Code
1 2 1997, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 The conservation fund, except as otherwise provided,
1 4 consists of all other funds accruing to the department for the
1 5 purposes embraced by this chapter. However, all receipts from
1 6 the sale of state-owned timber shall be credited to the
1 7 general fund of the state. As used in this paragraph, timber
1 8 means timber as defined in section 456A.36.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill provides that all receipts from the sale of
1 11 state-owned timber shall be credited to the general fund of
1 12 the state. Timber is defined to mean trees, standing or
1 13 felled, and logs which can be used for sawing or processing
1 14 into lumber for building or structural purposes or for the
1 15 manufacture of an article. Timber does not include firewood,
1 16 Christmas trees, fruit or ornamental trees, or wood products
1 17 not used or to be used for building, structural,
1 18 manufacturing, or processing purposes.
