1 1 Amend Senate File 533 as follows:
1 2 #1. Page 8, by inserting after line 26 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "4. The department of corrections shall issue a
1 5 request for proposals for the construction of a
1 6 supermaximum security correctional facility at a
1 7 location determined by the department, which would
1 8 only be constructed if the proposal is accepted. The
1 9 department of corrections shall include specifications
1 10 concerning the number of correctional beds in the
1 11 request for proposals and issue the request for
1 12 proposals in such a manner that responses are due and
1 13 shall be included in a report submitted by the
1 14 department to the general assembly on or before
1 15 January 12, 1998. The department of corrections shall
1 16 not accept a proposal received in accordance with this
1 17 subsection without specific authorization through the
1 18 enactment of legislation to fund the proposal."
