  1  1    Amend House File 416, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 9, by striking lines 12 through 17 and
  1  4 inserting the following:
  1  5    "9.  a.  A person who operates The operator of a
  1  6 vehicle which is in violation of the provisions of
  1  7 this section, and an owner, or any other person,
  1  8 employing or otherwise employer, or any other person
  1  9 directing the operator of a vehicle, who requires or
  1 10 knowingly permits the operation of a vehicle in
  1 11 violation of the provisions of this section shall be
  1 12 fined according to the following schedule:"
  1 13    #2.  Page 10, by inserting after line 21 the
  1 14 following:
  1 15    "Sec.    .  Section 321.476, unnumbered paragraph
  1 16 1, Code 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1 17    Authority is hereby given to the department to stop
  1 18 any motor vehicle or trailer on the highways for the
  1 19 purposes of weighing and inspection, to weigh and
  1 20 inspect the same, and to enforce the provisions of and
  1 21 investigate operators, owners, employers, and other
  1 22 persons directing operators of motor vehicles
  1 23 suspected of violations of the motor vehicle laws
  1 24 relating to the registration, size, weight, and load
  1 25 of motor vehicles and trailers."
  1 26    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
