PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter 215, section 2, 1 2 subsections 6 and 7, are amended to read as follows: 1 3 6. For the installation of storm drainage, grading, new 1 4 asphalt, new lighting,and striping of capitol complex parking1 5lots 4 and 5 in accordance with capitol complex renovation1 6plans, provided that not more than $450,000 shall be used for1 7lot 4 and not more than $105,000 shall be used for lot 5, and1 8provided that existing capitol complex construction plans do1 9not conflict with the parking lot improvements:1 10.................................................. $ 555,0001 117. Forfilling cracks, resurfacing, new handicapped 1 12 parking signs which comply with the provisions of chapter 1 13 321L, as amended by 1997 Iowa Acts, House File 688, and 1 14 striping capitol complex parking lots 13, 4, 5, and 15 in 1 15 accordance with capitol complex renovation plans,provided1 16that not more than $100,750 shall be used for lot 13 and not1 17more than $75,000 shall be used for lot 15, andprovided that 1 18 existing capitol complex construction plans do not conflict 1 19 with the parking lot improvements: 1 20 .................................................. $175,7501 21 730,750 1 22 Sec. 2. DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. There is appropriated 1 23 from the rebuild Iowa infrastructure fund to the department of 1 24 corrections for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997, and 1 25 ending June 30, 1998, the following amount, or so much thereof 1 26 as is necessary, to be used for the purpose designated: 1 27 For construction of buildings to provide work space for 1 28 prisoners: 1 29 .................................................. $ 2,200,000 1 30 Notwithstanding section 8.33, unencumbered or unobligated 1 31 funds remaining on June 30, 2000, from the funds appropriated 1 32 in this section shall revert to the rebuild Iowa 1 33 infrastructure fund. 1 34 Sec. 3. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SUBSIDIZATION FUND. 1 35 There is appropriated from the general fund of the state to 2 1 the department of education for the fiscal year beginning July 2 2 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1998, to supplement the 2 3 appropriations made in 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter 210, section 2, 2 4 subsection 2, paragraph "a", the following amount, or so much 2 5 thereof as is necessary, to be used for the purpose 2 6 designated: 2 7 For the subsidization of video rates: 2 8 .................................................. $ 300,000 2 9 Sec. 4. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. There is appropriated 2 10 from the general fund of the state to the public broadcasting 2 11 division of the department of education for the fiscal year 2 12 beginning July 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1998, to 2 13 supplement the appropriations made in 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter 2 14 212, section 7, subsection 7, the following amount, or so much 2 15 thereof as is necessary, to be used for the purpose 2 16 designated: 2 17 For a study of the digital television conversion: 2 18 .................................................. $ 150,000 2 19 Notwithstanding section 8.33, any unobligated or 2 20 unencumbered funds remaining at the end of the fiscal year 2 21 shall not revert to the general fund of the state but shall be 2 22 available for expenditure during the following fiscal year for 2 23 the purpose designated in this section. 2 24 Sec. 5. DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES. There is 2 25 appropriated from the general fund of the state to the 2 26 department of natural resources for the fiscal year beginning 2 27 July 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1998, the following amount, 2 28 or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the purpose 2 29 designated: 2 30 For the value of sick leave pay that needs to be paid out 2 31 due to retirement of personnel in the parks and preserves 2 32 division: 2 33 .................................................. $ 350,000 2 34 Sec. 6. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of 2 35 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. 3 1 EXPLANATION 3 2 The bill makes supplemental appropriations for the 1997- 3 3 1998 fiscal year from the state general fund to the 3 4 departments of education and natural resources, and from the 3 5 rebuild Iowa infrastructure fund to the department of 3 6 corrections. In addition, the bill amends a previous 3 7 appropriation from the rebuild Iowa infrastructure fund to the 3 8 department of general services. 3 9 The bill takes effect upon enactment. 3 10 LSB 3133HC 77 3 11 jp/jl/8
