1 1 Section 1. Section 422.45, Code Supplement 1997, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 52. The gross receipts from the sale of
1 4 tangible property or from services performed, rendered, or
1 5 furnished to a statewide organ procurement organization, as
1 6 defined in section 142C.2.
1 7 EXPLANATION
1 8 The bill exempts from the state sales and use taxes the
1 9 gross receipts from the sale of tangible personal property or
1 10 from services performed for statewide organ procurement
1 11 organizations. An organ procurement organization is an entity
1 12 that performs or coordinates the performance of retrieving,
1 13 preserving, or transplanting organs, which maintains a system
1 14 of locating prospective recipients, and which is registered
1 15 with the united network for organ sharing.
