  1  1    Section 1.  Section 147.14, subsection 1, Code 1997, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    1.  For podiatry, barbering, and social work, three members
  1  4 each, licensed to practice the profession for which the board
  1  5 conducts examinations, and two members who are not licensed to
  1  6 practice the profession for which the board conducts
  1  7 examinations and who shall represent the general public.  A
  1  8 quorum shall consist of a majority of the members of the
  1  9 board.
  1 10    Sec. 2.  Section 147.14, Code 1997, is amended by adding
  1 11 the following new subsection:
  1 12    NEW SUBSECTION.  1A.  For podiatry examiners, five members
  1 13 licensed to practice podiatry and two members who are not
  1 14 licensed to practice podiatry and who shall represent the
  1 15 general public.  A majority of the members of the board shall
  1 16 constitute a quorum.  
  1 17                           EXPLANATION
  1 18    This bill provides for a change in the number of members of
  1 19 the board of podiatry examiners.  Currently, the board of
  1 20 podiatry examiners consists of a total of five members, three
  1 21 of whom are licensed to practice podiatry and two who are not
  1 22 licensed to practice podiatry and who represent the general
  1 23 public.  The bill provides that the number of members who are
  1 24 licensed to practice podiatry would be increased from three to
  1 25 five individuals, with a resulting total board of podiatry
  1 26 membership increase from five to seven members.
