  1  1    Section 1.  Section 216A.5, Code 1997, is repealed.
  1  2    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1  3 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.  
  1  4                           EXPLANATION
  1  5    This bill provides for the continued operation of the
  1  6 department of human rights.  Iowa Code section 216A.5 provides
  1  7 that the department of human rights will cease to exist
  1  8 effective July 1, 1997.  The bill deletes this provision,
  1  9 enabling the department to continue its operations.  This bill
  1 10 takes effect upon enactment.
