  1  4 RELATING TO THE MAXIMUM VALUE OF PRIZES AWARDED IN RAFFLES
  1  5    AND CERTAIN GAMES OF SKILL AND CHANCE.  
  1  6 
  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 99B.7, subsection 1, paragraph d, Code
  1 10 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1 11    d.  Cash prizes shall not be awarded in games other than
  1 12 bingo and raffles.  The value of a prize shall not exceed two
  1 13 hundred one thousand dollars and merchandise prizes shall not
  1 14 be repurchased.  If a prize consists of more than one item,
  1 15 unit, or part, the aggregate value of all items, units, or
  1 16 parts shall not exceed two hundred one thousand dollars.
  1 17 However, one raffle may be conducted per calendar year at
  1 18 which prizes having a combined value of more than two hundred
  1 19 one thousand dollars may be awarded.  If the prize is
  1 20 merchandise, its value shall be determined by purchase price
  1 21 paid by the organization or donor.
  1 22    Sec. 2.  Section 99B.7, subsection 1, paragraph q,
  1 23 unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 1997, is amended to read as
  1 24 follows:
  1 25    A licensee under this section may hold one real property
  1 26 raffle per calendar year at which the value of the real
  1 27 property may exceed two hundred one thousand dollars in lieu
  1 28 of the annual raffle authorized in subsection 1, paragraph
  1 29 "d", if all of the following requirements are met:
