1 1 Section 1. STUDY OF MANUFACTURED HOUSING. The legislative
1 2 council shall establish a study of manufactured housing. The
1 3 study shall include, but is not limited to, a review of the
1 4 definitions and various forms of manufactured housing such as
1 5 mobile homes, manufactured homes, and modular homes, the taxes
1 6 which apply to the forms of manufactured housing, the siting
1 7 requirements and restrictions, and the applicable landlord-
1 8 tenant laws. The membership of the study committee shall be
1 9 determined by the legislative council and may include
1 10 nonlegislative members representing manufacturers, retailers,
1 11 homeowners, and persons representing political subdivisions of
1 12 the state.
1 13 The final report of the study committee shall be submitted
1 14 to the leadership of the general assembly not later than
1 15 January 15, 1999.
1 16 EXPLANATION
1 17 This bill provides that the legislative council shall
1 18 establish an interim committee to study manufactured housing.
1 19 The study shall include, but is not limited to, a review of
1 20 the definitions and forms of manufactured housing such as
1 21 mobile homes, manufactured homes, and modular homes, taxes
1 22 which apply to the various homes, siting requirements and
1 23 restrictions, and landlord-tenant laws. The membership shall
1 24 be determined by the legislative council and may include
1 25 nonlegislative members. The final report of the study
1 26 committee shall be submitted to the leadership of the general
