1 1 Section 1. Section 481A.48, Code Supplement 1997, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. The commission shall establish,
1 4 by rule, a deer hunting season from September 1 through
1 5 October 1 each year for physically disabled persons. The
1 6 rules shall include a definition of those physically disabled
1 7 persons, including paraplegics, who are eligible for the
1 8 hunting season, and shall address safety measures, weapons,
1 9 equipment, assistants, and other related matters.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill provides that the natural resource commission of
1 12 the department of natural resources shall establish a deer
1 13 hunting season from September 1 to October 1 each year for
1 14 physically handicapped persons. The commission shall adopt
1 15 rules to include a definition of those physically handicapped
1 16 persons who are eligible to hunt during the season, and shall
1 17 address safety requirements, weapons, equipment, assistants,
1 18 and related matters.
