1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 724.31 SAFETY DEVICES.
1 2 A person owning a pistol or revolver shall install a child
1 3 safety lock or trigger lock mechanism on the weapon designed
1 4 to prevent the accidental or unauthorized discharge of the
1 5 weapon while the pistol or revolver is being stored. This
1 6 section does not apply to a person holding a permit issued
1 7 pursuant to section 724.6. A person violating this section is
1 8 guilty of a simple misdemeanor.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill requires a person owning a pistol or revolver
1 11 which is being stored to install a child safety lock or
1 12 trigger lock mechanism on the weapon. This requirement does
1 13 not apply to a person holding a professional permit issued
1 14 pursuant to Code section 724.6. A person violating this
1 15 requirement is guilty of a simple misdemeanor.
