1 1 Section 1. There is appropriated from the general fund of
1 2 the state to the department of cultural affairs for the fiscal
1 3 year beginning July 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1998, the
1 4 following amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be
1 5 used to provide a grant for purposes of procuring the property
1 6 on which Fort Des Moines, which is listed on the national
1 7 historic registry, is located:

1 9 Allocation of moneys pursuant to this section shall be
1 10 contingent upon at least a dollar-for-dollar local match of
1 11 state grant moneys.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill appropriates $500,000 to the department of
1 14 cultural affairs for the purpose of providing a grant for the
1 15 purposes of procuring the property on which Fort Des Moines is
1 16 located. The fort is listed on the national historic
1 17 registry. The state moneys are contingent upon a $1-for-$1
1 18 local match.
