1 1 Section 1. Section 239.1, subsection 8, Code 1997, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 8. "Specified relative" means a relative specified in 42
1 4 U.S.C. } 606 and in federal regulations adopted pursuant to
1 5 that section, or a relative who is the child's second cousin.
1 6 EXPLANATION
1 7 This bill relates to family investment program requirements
1 8 involving the specified relative of a child receiving
1 9 assistance. The definition of a specified relative is
1 10 expanded to include the second cousin of a child receiving
1 11 assistance. A specified relative is an individual who may act
1 12 in place of the parent or fill another role associated with
1 13 payment of cash assistance under the family investment
1 14 program.
