1 1 Section 1. Section 481A.39, Code 1997, is amended by
1 2 adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. The commission shall establish
1 4 annually a regular gun open season for deer which shall begin
1 5 on the first Saturday in November and close on the third
1 6 Sunday in December.
1 7 EXPLANATION
1 8 This bill provides that the natural resource commission
1 9 shall establish annually a regular gun open season for deer
1 10 which shall begin on the first Saturday in November and close
1 11 on the third Sunday in December. Under current administrative
1 12 rules, a deer hunter may use a 10, 12, 16, or 20-gauge shotgun
1 13 with a single slug or a muzzle-loaded rifle or musket of not
1 14 less than .44 caliber nor more than .775 caliber with a single
1 15 projectile during a regular gun deer season.
