  1  1    Section 1.  Section 22.1, subsection 1, Code 1997, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    1.  The term "government body" means this state, or any
  1  4 county, city, township, school corporation, political
  1  5 subdivision, tax-supported district, nonprofit corporation
  1  6 other than a county or district fair or agricultural society,
  1  7 whose facilities or indebtedness are supported in whole or in
  1  8 part with property tax revenue and which is licensed to
  1  9 conduct pari-mutuel wagering pursuant to chapter 99D,
  1 10 nonprofit corporation licensed to conduct gambling games
  1 11 pursuant to chapter 99F, or other entity of this state, or any
  1 12 branch, department, board, bureau, commission, council,
  1 13 committee, official or officer, of any of the foregoing or any
  1 14 employee delegated the responsibility for implementing the
  1 15 requirements of this chapter.
  1 16    Sec. 2.  Section 22.1, subsection 3, unnumbered paragraph
  1 17 1, Code 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1 18    3.  As used in this chapter, "public records" includes all
  1 19 records, documents, tape, or other information, stored or
  1 20 preserved in any medium, of or belonging to this state or any
  1 21 county, city, township, school corporation, political
  1 22 subdivision, nonprofit corporation other than a county or
  1 23 district fair or agricultural society, whose facilities or
  1 24 indebtedness are supported in whole or in part with property
  1 25 tax revenue and which is licensed to conduct pari-mutuel
  1 26 wagering pursuant to chapter 99D, nonprofit corporation
  1 27 licensed to conduct gambling games pursuant to chapter 99F, or
  1 28 tax-supported district in this state, or any branch,
  1 29 department, board, bureau, commission, council, or committee
  1 30 of any of the foregoing.  
  1 31                           EXPLANATION
  1 32    This bill provides that the records of nonprofit
  1 33 corporations licensed to conduct gambling games shall be open
  1 34 to the public.  The bill deletes references to agricultural
  1 35 societies and county or district fairs licensed to conduct
  2  1 pari-mutuel wagering, which exempt those facilities from the
  2  2 public records laws.
