1 1 Section 1. Section 483A.24, subsection 2, Code 1997, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. d. If the commission establishes a deer
1 4 hunting season to occur in the first quarter of a calendar
1 5 year that is separate from a deer hunting season that
1 6 continues from the last quarter of the preceding calendar
1 7 year, each owner and each tenant of a farm unit located within
1 8 a zone where a deer hunting season is established, upon
1 9 application, shall be issued a free deer hunting license for
1 10 each of the two calendar quarters. The license is valid only
1 11 for hunting on the farm unit of the owner and tenant.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides that if a deer hunting season
1 14 established by the natural resource commission overlaps from
1 15 the last quarter of a calendar year into a deer hunting season
1 16 established by the commission in the first quarter of the
1 17 calendar year, an owner and tenant of a farm unit in a zone
1 18 where the two separate hunting seasons are established, upon
1 19 application, shall each receive a free deer hunting license
1 20 for each of the two calendar quarters.
